Split from the topic "Exhibition:" in the exhibition area.

Excellent Dai, you enthusiasm is powerful. When the new term starts real progress will be made. We are devising committees and refining our plans. All will be informed as soon as possible. We can't wait! There is a real important development to our local endeavors as Artists. Please read about it and support it, please!

There's nowhere else for this kind of news yet so I'll post here. This forum will get better.

Please help to support the future of the Fish Market Gallery space. If this closes, it will be disastrous for current and future students, not to mention the Arts and Cultural progress made in the town so far. Please join the group and help us campaign:

If anyone is available to help gain support from other students by moderately demonstrating, please contact me. This is a cause that ought to interest all of us. It was sign of real progress and now it is being challenged. Please help!

Speak soon. Sorry to Hijack this, but

I am new to all this, but what good does an internet forum do to help save the Fishmarket? Surely those making the decisions are likely to be in the same boat as me, without the advantage of knowing you younger guys!!! They wont (Can't) read the ******* thing!

We want to show our credentials as artists and writers so shouldn't we be doing something?

Maybe we need to reconsider our exhibition - and make it a guerilla operation - any ideas?

A guerilla exhibition sounds amazing. Like a 'Creative Flash Mob.' We all invade an art gallery and start showing off our work. Yeah?

It is done.

Yep, I'll join when I can, though my account is 'currently unavailable due to maintenance' apparently. Incidentally, I split the topic because I think this Fishmarket situation warrants a place in Announcements.

And I agree with you, Dai, however I would say that a group on Facebook is very good for communicative purposes.

Hi Dai,
the face book group is a start. We have been doing much more than just that, but it has helped gather some momentum quite quickly.

The Gorilla exhibition is an ace idea; the NAC have allowed us to do a public exhibit of a very tame nature, which will be revealed soon...they're never as quick with these things as I'd be.

We need action...that's for sure. Have you heard about Thursday 26th outside the Guild Hall? A flash protest is taking place. We'll all just turn up and stand still and quite, like ranks of the dead!!! It starts a 6:35pm...

I'm doing the flyer now.

‘FOR A LIMITED PERIOD ONLY!’

Show your support for the Fishmarket!

Come to the Fishmarket during the 5th, 6th and 7th of February, and show us your support, tell us how good it has been, draw us your enthusiasm, write us your passion and explain your commitment to keeping it going.

There will be a huge blackboard space and plenty of chalk, and the rest is up to you.

We know you want to show how much the Fishmarket matters to all kinds of people in Northampton - children, senior citizens, market traders, managers, artists, artisans, intellectuals, sons of the soil, mums, mates, and even councilors are all welcome to show us how much you care.

Only for a brief time, this show will show – what we all want to express.
Starts on the 5th Feb and down by 15th Feb

The Fishmarket reserves the right to remove anything which is illegal or offensive, and we encourage you to show us your positive thoughts, and keep the negative ones for outside the building.

We need students, artists, musicians, photographers, actors, dancers, singers, teachers...and anyone else who wants to have some fun, whoever you are!

We want to create a vibrant and energetic atmosphere to raise the profile of Arts within Northampton. This is in conjunction with a campaign that has been running to secure the future of the Gallery.

Please let the society know if you are going down and if you propose to contribute. This is a gorilla exhibition within reason...

Photographers are urged to take as many photo's as they can of the happenings and then bring them down once developed...

Singers and musicians, just come down and play/sing...

Dancers, come and dance...

Painters, come and paint...

Actors, come down and act...

Teachers, bring your students to do all of the above, whatever age they are...

Writers, Poets, come and share your words - stick them to the walls, or write using the chalk, speak them aloud and let them echo through the gallery...

So, you get the idea. Let's have some fun with this...

Who's in?
